BoardSportSource Talks with Peter Bauer

Amplid's owner, cofounder and CEO, Peter Bauer recently sat down with the good folks at BoardSportSource to talk about 10 years of Amplid and 30 years of Snowboarding. We might be a little biased, but we think it's awesome, and to prove it, here's a little extract where Peter talks about meeting Jake Burton Carpenter at the Austrian Championships in Kaprun in the mid-late 80s.

"It was a funny contest, with three categories: Snowboard, Swingbo and Monoski. I had the best time after the first run, so Jake Burton Carpenter, who happened to be there, walked up to me, and asked me how I like the board, and said that I had a good first run, and he wished me all the best for the second one. I ended up first and he walked up to me and asked whether I wanted to ride for Burton.

I had no idea about what that meant, but I said “heck yeah, cool”! I got a Burton racing suit and a hoody that Jake had in his rental car, and in the following weeks after the comp several boards such as the EXPRESS and the SAFARI arrived in the post. This is how it all started."
