The early season drought in the alps has made life for every professional Mountain Guide throughout the Alps difficult. For guide Eric Haufe, finding good snow for his clients, no matter the weather, and simultaneously keeping his clients safe is challenging job, but a job he loves. Eric travels throughout the alps during the winter to find the best conditions. We asked him to summarise some of his favourite adventures of the winter so far.
"The season started with an early season skitouring and culture roadtrip in the mindblowing mountains of the Aosta Valley. Three weeks after the last snowfall we found some super nice powder runs beside the more popular routes and enjoyed perfect spring slush! The views of Mount Blanc and Gran Paradiso nearby were insane."
"Then over the New Year holidays we went on another skitouring trip, exploring some relatively unknown places around Briancon and Piemont in Italy. We probably had some of the best snow conditions in the whole Alps during this trip. Perfect weather and unforgettable riding in such a peaceful environment."
"Soon it was time to ride perfect powder conditions at home in the Allgäu mountains. What can I say… deep and super smooth pow pow everywhere. I spent all day in the backcountry with my shred buddies. Soooo much fun!!"
