It has snowed all night and we go through our daily morning routine in the larger of the two Hymer Mobiles: coffee, muesli, Nutella bread, another coffee, cat shower, then prepare snowboard gear. It's the 5th day, Serbia the 5th country on our road trip to northern Macedonia on the hunt for undiscovered powder pockets in the Balkans. So far, our expectations have been more than exceeded...

Personal Thoughts: This rides super soft, it would almost be better for a lighter weight rider. Yes it’s wide and has some solid float. In low angle terrain it’s easy to pump the terrain to keep your speed on this thing. It has its place for riders but for someone like me it might be a little too soft and going to an Aloha Vibes makes far more sense.

Last February I happened to experience the best week of snowboarding in my 30 years of riding sideways. It took place in a hidden powder bowl below the Gjeravica mountain in Kosovo. Maybe not known to many, but the Adriatic coastal mountain range happens to get huge powder storms when conditions click. Imagine Japan quality powder but 2 hours flight from Munich...

Quite frankly, it is one of the boards we were most looking forward to riding in this year’s test, and as you will see for yourself, we weren’t in the least bit disappointed. The Freequencer is all you can expect from the Milligram -thinking of shape- but with a wood core, which implies a more affordable price. The Amplid Surf Shuttle is all you need if you are looking for a splitboard to ride powder. Thanks to its shape, it is guaranteed to be a splitboard which floats really well on powder, spring corn, and it will feel stable even shredding ugly crusty snow. Obviously, it doesn’t feel as light as the Millisurf, but quite frankly, Amplid has really succeeded in keeping the weight very low for a bomb proof construction.
